Hansen: “The fraudulence of the Copenhagen approach” – “must be exposed.”

There’s an essay by Dr. James Hansen in the Guardian, the header of which is shown below. Next time people accuse of “big oil” connections for skeptics, point out that the most pro-agw newspaper on the planet is pushing Shell Oil ads.

That distraction aside, Dr. Hansen has some stunning things to say, excerpts below.

Last.fm Garners Nearly 1 Million New Subscriptions Through Xbox Live

Last Tuesday, Xbox announced that it would integrate Twitter, Facebook, Zune video compatibility, and Last.fm into its Live services. The software update was free, and has thus far been a success. We recently reported that over 2 million Xbox live subscribers used the Facebook feature from their consoles in the first week. Equally as impressive, is the fact that last.fm has netted nearly 1 million new subscribers from the partnership. Since the introduction of the service, last.fm has seen a record number of new subscribers in a 24 hour period and Live users have streamed over 120 million minutes worth of music to their consoles.

As with most services on Xbox Live, only Gold subscribers get access to the streaming capabilities of last.fm. Since only paying users get access to the service, it seems probable that Microsoft and last.fm are involved in some sort of revenue-sharing agreement, although neither company will comment on this postulation. Either way, this partnership seems to be a great move by both parties. Microsoft adds more features, while last.fm has increased its (potential) userbase.

I have yet to use this service on my 360, but I’m sure many of you have. Sound off inSource: CrunchGear RSS Feed

Companies Quit Complaining About Qualcomm

What kind of phone do you have?  Whatever your answer, deep down it’s a Qualcomm - the chipmaker invented many of the CDMA communications standards essential to mobile phones, and owns key patents on W-CDMA.  Or as you might have heard of it, 3G, and every time you did Qualcomm made a bit more money.  They manage this without even owning any factories - instead they own the designs and contract out construction of the actual pieces.

Hacked Climate Research Unit e-mails reveal manipulation and misconduct

Hackers have broken into computers of the publicly funded Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia. What they uncovered is pretty shocking, over a thousand of e-mails and dozens of documents were leaked that illustrate deception and misconduct by one of the UK's top climate research centers. CRU director Phil Jones confirmed his organization has been hacked, and said the data appears to be genuine at first sight. First Impressions of the HTC HD2 Windows Phone

While at Mobius I had the opportunity to take a look at some of the cool phones other members were carrying. The iPhone 3G and 3GS were popular with many of us (that’s Alex’s lovely wife gracing his iPhone’s screen), and the Motorola Droid (that’s Vincent with his beautiful wife Lynnsie, on his) was popular with quite a few others — even if nearly all of them were complaining about its keyboard. What kid of the ’80s didn’t see himself as Luke Skywalker, valiantly manuevering his X-Wing fighter down the Death Star trench, the fate of the whole galaxy resting upon him and his loyal astromech droid?
